Just a little illustration I started last holiday season, but only now am getting around to finish. It came to me in a vision one night.
Those who know me, might speculate that it came to me because I am known for being a major Christmas junkie! And I especially love the Nutcracker ballet. So much so, that I've been collecting wooden nutcrackers for years. My collection is not huge though (mainly, because the good ones are quite pricey). Thusly, this inspired Nutcracker themed illustration is for all of you who are Christmas/Nutcracker junkies and/or Steampunk junkies too.
Edit: I've uploaded a high res version for anyone wanting a print. Maybe there's someone on your Christmas list that might like one.
If he opens his eyes, will you see humanity? If so, that would then color the entire figure. How would such an entity hold his head normally. Hope he is a good guy, with humanity....
Only the spirit of Christmas magic can awaken him. And it such, he is a soldier - obedient and true. Thusly, I believe he would be a good guy, with humanity.
However, the hour is not yet ripe for his awakening...
I know the rats are supposed to be the bad guys, but I can't help thinking this one is adorable XD Love the details put into it, the fur strokes, the whiskers, and the mechanical gears he's a well dressed rat he is (in a good way)!

It's not how you survived the storm, it's how you danced in the rain.
